Thank you

Thank you

Frequent readers of this blog will know how much I like the art and philosophy of Hugh McLeod. I love this particular piece from him. This would be my hope…that my last words would be “thank you.”

No matter where you are in your life you have a lot to be thankful for.

A thankful person is an open and humble person; a person who knows that they couldn’t have done it by themselves. They’ve needed help along the way. When I am thankful, I am humble; and I’ve never been disappointed when I’ve made the decision to “go in low.”

We know that God gives grace to the humble, but is actually opposed to the proud. Then there’s the Psalm that says that we enter into His gates with thanksgiving. The doorway to God’s presence is a thankful heart. That alone should be motivation enough to count your blessings and make it a point to be thankful this year.

In fact, to edit Hugh just a little, how about changing his caption to, “My first words of the year will be “Thank You.”

Let’s make 2013 a year of humility and thanksgiving. Let’s remember to go in low and give one another a little more slack. We all have so much to be thankful for.
