What is your THAT?

Let’s start with Philippians 3:12 again, Not that I have already obtained all this,
or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took
hold of me.

What is it that God calls you to press on to take hold of? What
is the THAT for which Jesus took hold of you? God has created you for THAT!
What is it that keeps you from going after THAT? Maybe you can’t figure out
what THAT is. Maybe you know what it is but think the chance to go for it has
come and gone. Maybe you’ve got too much baggage or too many details to
manage…you’re not free anymore.

But what if? What if you did discover the THAT for you? What
if you did go for it? What if you could figure out a way to make it happen? How
would that change things? How would that change you or your outlook on life?
Can you imagine how that would re-energize your days and nights? OK…enough
questions for now.

I believe that to stay healthy and connected and relevant we
need to continually do at least these two things (there are probably many
more)…

  1. Pursue those things whole-heartedly that we were born to do (go after the THAT in our lives)
  2. Continually put ourselves in situations where we are not in control—where God Himself is the only way we’re going to succeed or to survive or both.

Don’t you ever wonder if there’s more? Now, I know this is
dangerous territory. I know there’s a big-time danger of pining away for what
we can’t (or shouldn’t) have instead of realizing the blessings that are piling
up right around our feet. But…having said that…do you ever wonder if there’s
more?

Don’t you ever desire to be more fully alive? I’m not
talking about having more stuff. I’m talking about something
different…something much deeper. Have you ever wondered what Jesus meant by
having life “more abundant?” I’m convinced now that He didn’t mean more money,
a nicer car, a bigger house, or more things. The church is still reeling from
the devastation of that message.

I believe abundant life is directly tied to that destiny
that God put in your heart. Your THAT. To the extent that we are
committed to climbing the next mountain or pushing on around the bend or curious
enough to pull back the curtain…to the extent that we are willing to put
ourselves in situations that we will desperately need God in a bigger way than
we are currently experiencing Him (the bigger box)…only then will we put
ourselves in a position to realize life more abundant.

More to come…
