Let’s go exploring!

CalvinI'm in my home office surrounded by boxes full of stuff I cleaned out of my office just last Friday. Yep…I can't believe that just last week I said that you've got to zig when they think you're going to zag. Sometimes life is the one that hands out the zigging and zagging!

So, what to do now. My feelings fluctuate between a feeling of great freedom (I can do whatever I want!) to stark terror (OMG! What am I going to do??) I've been in this situation before (unemployed) so you'd think I'd know how to act and what to think. But I don't think this is ever something you get used to.

I look at these boxes around my feet and ask myself, is this all that my last 32 months has come down to? Has everything (all the successes, all the relationships, all the creative work, all the hard work) been reduced to 3 cardboard boxes?

I have to say no. I've met some great people. I've had the opportunity to work with some very talented folks. I've been able to travel and see some beautiful country. I've had the honor to teach folks who serve in a unique area of the Kingdom…camp/conference people. It's been awesome.

I hope I'm able to continue to serve the camping community in the days to come. I don't know what that will look like but I'm looking forward to the adventure ("adventure" is usually what you call "ordeal" after the fact!).

You can continue to find me on Facebook and Twitter.

Calvin said it best…"It's a magical world 'ol buddy. Let's go exploring!"

  • You have definitely made an impact on my life. I was completely new to Christian camping until last year and the advice and information you gave me was priceless. I, for one, am thankful to have met you. I am excited for you. My dad always says “Life is forever on the side of future”…just another adventure in your life for you!
