The clock is ticking

I apologize for continuing to gush about Linchpin. I guess it's just hit me at a good/bad time in my life and seems to make a lot of sense to me right now. Hugh has created a great piece here. Read the caption. Now read it again. Let it roll around in your head a little bit. Life's too short not to do something that matters. Wow…it's getting more profound to me as I think about it now.

How about you? Are you doing work that matters? I didn't ask about your job. I asked about your work…or your art. Are you making a difference in someone's life today? Are you actively "seasoning" the environment in which you've been called to live and work?

It occurred to me this morning that I'm not out of work. I might be out of a job…but I'm not out of work. And that's not a statement about my activity level. Since the last blog post, I've had the honor and privilege of having significant conversations with camp and conference center leaders. The post definitely had the desired effect…I'm working. I'm giving away my art. I'm being a blessing and the tribe is growing.

Come on…do something that matters today. Raise the bar. Change the expectations. Alter the perceptions. Make someone's life a little better, a little more interesting. Do what you were born to do.

  • Hey Michael, I completely agree with your distinction between work and a job. Jobs are important delivery platforms but they are not the sum total of our work. Thanks for finding a way to continue to contribute.
